Caprice

“Caprice” explores how the artist has imagined the world otherwise. Emphasizing the artist’s viewpoints, it’s an invitation to walk towards her world. Our experiences are playing with her artwork.  Silvina relates “As artists, we create imaginary shelters- an inner journey where we can escape from reality, and come back from it renewed”. The artwork emphasizes the artist’s perspective of the most magnificent landscape. It turns the viewer to rely on imagination, speculation, and fantasy.  With her fan-shaped sun and river, she reveals how we can be influenced by wind, nature, and the soothing movement of the grass. This experience can be perceived as a form of meditation and religion. She challenges the viewer to examine their present relationships with the world. Discover the potential to reach an understanding of superior forces in nature.

This artwork is an opportunity to acknowledge the integration of various religions in the Boston community. The Roman Catholic Religion is the most common form of religion in Massachusetts. Nevertheless, integration of Baptist, Christian, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Protestant Pentecostal, Episcopal, Jewish, Muslim, and others is essential to develop trust in each other. Integrating religious and spiritual themes could be done through education. With an open-minded mentality, to better understand them we may ask questions about a person’s beliefs, values, and practices. Another recommendation is engaging in particular activities and practices such as meditation or prayer. A study proves that church and church member support is associated with healthy lifestyles among older Hispanics.
