Fun Facts: Originally, Golden made up these characters to entertain his daughter. Each one has a name, personality and backstory. The mural in this photo is at a YMCA, and Golden created coloring books featuring the characters in this mural for the kids at the site to enjoy.

Artist Cristhian Saravia (Golden) was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He is an artist and curator based out of Wynwood, Florida. Golden became a graffiti artist at an early age. As the movement evolved, he became one of Florida’s most renowned street artists.

Golden is an active member of Favela Painting Projects, The Bushwick Collective, Galactic Wolf Cobra Collective, Big Walls Big Dreams. He is the curator and producer of the annual Meeting of Styles Miami, the oldest graffiti event in the world, running since 1995. He is known for using vivid colors and his unique style of painting to create unique vivacious characters. Golden has painted large-scale graffiti and murals around the world.

Heart + Soul

Installation of the Heart + Soul exhibition
The Heart + Soul installation is a retrospective of some of the many murals and pieces of art created by artists in collaboration with Beyond Walls. In the fall of 2020, Beyond Walls presented the street art festival Truth Be Told in Lynn, Massachusetts. The artwork featured in the Truth Be Told festival was born of the COVID-19 pandemic and explores the idiosyncrasies of the times. Heart + Soul is a collection of photographs and digital art examining the interplay between community and art. The subjects and symbols within the works reflect the resilience of the diverse people where they reside. As the photographs celebrate the community, Heart + Soul aims to create space that not only reflects the vibrant diversity of the staff and patient community, but celebrates them.

This collection is the result of generous donations from Mass General Imaging and the MGH Office of Equity and Community Health.
